Meal Ideas On A Collapsible Camp Stove

If you're planning a rustic camping trip with a camper or tent, you may think that you're only cooking option is over an open flame. With a collapsible camp stove, however, you can easily prepare nutritious and filling breakfasts, lunches and dinners for your friends and family.

Lightweight and simple to transport, collapsible camp stoves fold up for easy transport and storage. Even if space is limited, you can find room to store the stove in your camper, car, truck or even a tent. You may even be able to transport it in a backpack if you're a hiker.

To create a flame on the stove, you'll need to insert fuel tablets, which are also small and convenient. In an emergency situation or if you don't have any of the tablets on hand, you can also use forest floor fodder, such as leaves, sticks, and twigs, to create a flame in the bottom of the stove. Although the stove is compact, it will create a sufficient-sized flame for cooking a variety of food items and boiling water for coffee and tea.

The following are some meal ideas using your collapsible camp stove:

Ideal for both lunches and dinners, hearty soups are simple to prepare on a camp stove, and are filled with healthy ingredients. The best part is that you can use whatever vegetables and other items you have on hand to create a delicious one-pot meal.

You can either bring the prepared vegetables, such as carrots, potatoes, celery, and onions or cut them up at the campsite. Simply boil the broth of your choice over the stove's fire, and add the vegetables, pasta, and even canned beans as an easy-to-transport protein source.

2. Skillet Breakfast

Although this skillet meal features traditional breakfast items, it makes a filling lunch or dinner as well. Using a non-stick or cast-iron skillet, fry eggs in any way you'd like, along with hashbrowns, bacon, and vegetables such as chopped green pepper and onion.

You can substitute tofu for scrambled eggs, and add in tempeh or tofu if you're a vegan or vegetarian.

3. Nachos

Nachos can be a fun and easy-to-eat campsite snack or meal, you can prepare nachos using just one skillet. To make the campfire nachos, use a skillet with a lid. Layer all of the ingredients, such as tortilla chips, salsa, shredded cheese, black beans, and black olives, into the skillet and place the lid on top. Cook the nachos over the camps stove until the cheese is melted and all of the ingredients are hot.

The lid will keep the steam from the liquid ingredients inside, preventing the nachos from getting too dried out.
